New Yorker, photographer, photojournalist, cat lover.
We stumbled across Margaret when looking into Julia Margaret Cameron's work off the back of Britain in Focus, a great BBC three part series on photography (which you can still watch here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08h95c3).
Margaret Bourke-White was the first female war photojournalist and first foreign photographer allowed to take pictures of Soviet industry. She also got the cover shot and story for issue one of LIFE magazine.
Her assignments in Germany, Soviet Union and the Dust Bowl meant her style developed from big bold industrial and architectural images, to the inclusion of people. As her understanding of the social issues developed, as did her compassionate humanitarian approach to such photos.
